Welcome

Brittle Star is an international literary magazine that has been dedicated for a decade to publishing new poetry and short fiction. It has earned a reputation for providing a platform for writers at the beginning of their careers, many of whom have seen their work in print for the first time.

As well as great new poetry and fiction, the magazine has regular and inspiring critical features, including interviews with established writers (David Constantine, Jeremy Hooker, Mimi Khalvati, Galway Kinnell and more), close readings and in-depth articles on literature. Brittle Star is literally...

"...crammed with great stuff..."

Brittle Star is a beautifully produced magazine published three times a year. Extracts from the most recent issue can be read here, back issues can be found on the Poetry Library (UK) website and you can buy copies directly from the magazine.

Brittle Star is a not-for-profit magazine that receives no funding and is produced on a voluntary basis by a small team of dedicated writers and arts professionals.

"It's a great little magazine which is big in impulse and achievement, and a huge service to up-and-coming writers. I'm definitely going to become a regular subscriber."
