We run the Poetry and Short Fiction Competition bi-annually and will announce the next competition in November 2019.


    • The first poem/story submitted costs £5.00. Subsequent entries in the same submission cost £3.50 per poem/story. Brittle Star subscribers (including those subscribing at time of submission) get one free second entry (discounts will be deducted by the cart). Become a Patron of Brittle Star through Patreon and get your first entry FREE!

    The process below enables you to select and pay for your entry into the competition:

    Select an option from below, chose the number of entires you want to submit, then add to cart. This will take you through the registering process and take you to Paypal where you can either sign in and pay or pay by credit/debit card

    Once you have paid, come back to the site and go to “My account“, click “view” to the right of the order, you will then be able to upload your files.

    Choose your files to upload, 1 file per entry and then select “upload files” at the bottom

    Please read the Competition Rules before proceeding so that your entry qualifies

  • NOTE TO CURRENT SUBSCRIBERS. To enter our competition online and get your 2nd story or poem entry for FREE: Click on the ‘Entry without Subscription’ button. Enter however many poems/stories you want in the dropdown menu. A discount of £3.50 will be deducted at the checkout (you need to have a minimum of 2 entries).  Just type in the code – subcompfree2 – when you make your payment and follow the upload instructions.
