If you want to submit short stories or poetry, please read our submission guidelines. N.B. do not send submissions to the old PO Box, only send to the address stated in the guidelines.
Brittle Star welcomes submissions of unpublished, original work in the following categories:
Poetry: 1 – 4 poems
Literary short fiction: 1 – 2 stories up to 2000 words (double-line spaced)
We would encourage you to read a recent copy of Brittle Star before submitting work.
Submissions by post. NO EMAIL SUBMISSIONS. Please include a covering letter and an SAE (with the correct postage).
Overseas submissions by post. Please do not include International Reply Coupons as we do not return overseas submissions. Please include an email address for notification.
We are unable to return submissions, so please do not send us the only copy of your work. Send all work to: Brittle Star, 97 Benefield Road, Oundle, Peterborough, PE8 4EU. UK.
We cannot accept work that is currently under consideration by another magazine or competition.
Please include your name on each page.
Include a short biography (third person) of no more than 40 words for use if the piece is selected.
All contributors will be notified of the editors’ decisions as soon as possible.
Please be aware of UK postal rates especially in relation to envelope sizes. We can’t afford to pay the surcharges for incorrect postage.
Brittle Star is run on a volunteer basis. The editors are also writers and artists and fully understand the concerns you might have when submitting work.
